Qualified Retired Persons Program

The Belize Qualified Retired Persons Program (QRP) was created especially for those people who wish to live in Belize and can prove a permanent and consistent income from qualifying investments, pensions or other retirement benefits. Anyone forty-five (45) years or older can qualify for the program and may include his or her dependents in the program. Dependents include spouses and children under the age of eighteen (18) or under the age of twenty-three (23) if enrolled in a university. Qualifying applicants must provide documentation demonstrating a pension or annuity of a minimum of $2,000 (USD) per month or $24,000 (USD) per year. Benefits of the QRP include importing a vehicle (less than 3 years old), a boat, a plane and a sea-container of household goods, all duty-free (tax free) provided all of the said items are for personal use.
